The Sequim City Council will hold special meetings at 5 p.m. Monday, Feb. 3, and Thursday, Feb. 6 in the Sequim Civic Center, 152 W. Cedar St. to conduct interviews with applicants for the vacant seat on the council. Kathy Downer resigned earlier this month for personal reasons.
Eight candidates will be interviewed after two dropped out during the open application process.
Staff anticipate the council appointing a new council member at the scheduled council meeting on Monday, Feb. 10. If a decision is made that evening, the new member will begin serving after taking the oath of office.
By Washington State Law, the City Council is required to fill a vacant position within 90 days of the vacancy.
