Residents of the Sequim-Dungeness Valley have the opportunity to be a part of Sequim history by purchasing a part of the Community Plaza at the new Civic Center on the corner of North Sequim Avenue and West Cedar Street.

There are many ways to participate:

Commemorative Brick Pavers — $100

The engraved brick pavers will be incorporated into the floor of the plaza and highly visible to all pedestrians on the plaza. The commemorative pavers are intended to recognize families, businesses, community organizations, clubs and churches. Each paver is 7.5 inches by 7.5 inches and can be engraved with up to 13 characters on each of three lines. Bricks that are sponsored after the completion of the plaza will be installed into the plaza on a quarterly basis.

Benches — $1,500

There will be six metal benches on the plaza. Bench sponsors will be recognized with a plaque on the bench. There is only one bench still available for sponsorship. Five of the benches have been sponsored.

Tree – includes root barrier and grate — $2,000

Trees will front the plaza along West Cedar Street. The sponsor of a tree will be recognized with a plaque on the tree grate.

9/11 Memorial Display — donations accepted

In 2011, Police Chief Bill Dickinson, Sgt. Darrell Nelson and Officer Randy Kellas, visited the site of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks in New York City to retrieve an 843-pound piece of sheet metal that was from the fallen World Trade Center. Donations are being accepted for the development of a memorial on the Community Plaza featuring the World Trade Center artifact.

Public Art — TBD

The City Arts Advisory Commission is determining locations and opportunities to incorporate art into the Civic Center including the Community Plaza.

All donations to the City of Sequim Community Plaza will be listed on the city’s website.
