To help peninsula residents learn more about candidates for local offices prior to the statewide Aug. 4 Primary Election, Clallam County League of Women Voters are hosting a series of online candidate forums in coming weeks.
On Thursday, July 16, the league hosts a live forum for Clallam County Public Utility District (PUD) – District 2. On the ballot are four candidates: Neil Knutson, Marty Michaelis, Patti Morris and Rick Paschall. As of press time, Morris and Paschall have confirmed their participation. On Thursday, July 23, the league hosts a live forum for Legislative District 24, Position 1. Candidates include incumbent Mike Chapman (D-Port Angeles), Sue Forde (R-Sequim) and Daniel Charles Svoboda (R-Port Hadlock). At press time, Chapman and Svoboda have confirmed their participation. On Thursday, July 30, the league hosts a live forum for Legislative District 24, Position 2. Candidates include incumbent Steve Tharinger (D-Port Townsend), Darren Corcoran (D-Elma), Brian Pruiett (R-Carlsborg) and Jodi Wilke (R-Port Townsend). In addition, TVW will live-stream a candidate forum for the 6th Congressional District at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 9, and post the video for later viewing; see www.tvw.org. Candidates for the position include incumbent Derek Kilmer (D-Gig Harbor), Johny Alberg (R-Olalla), Stephan Brodhead (R-Tacoma), Elizabeth Kreiselmaier (R-Gig Harbor), Rebecca Parson (D-Tacoma) and Chris Welton (R-Bremerton).

Statewide forums
A forum for lieutenant governor, co-sponsored by the League of Women Voters of Tacoma-Pierce County, will be hosted in a Zoom meeting and televised on TVW (tvw.org) at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 9.
A Zoom forum for Secretary of State, co-sponsored by Spokane’s League of Women Voters groups, will air at 7 p.m. Thursday, July 16 at 7 p.m., on KSPS, Spokane’s public television station (ksps.org).
Clallam County’s league is looking to partner with TVW and other local government television stations to produce and distribute the recordings of these Zoom meeting forums.
