The Board of Clallam County Commissioners has several openings on advisory boards and committees.

Agricultural Commission (5)

Acts in an advisory capacity to research agricultural issues, provide information, and convey the interests and desires of farmers and others in the agricultural community to the Board of Commissioners. There are openings for representatives of Farmer in Commissioner District II, Farmer in Commissioner District III, At-large farmer, and (2) Non-farmer At-large.

Animal Issues Advisory Committee (5)

Serves as a liaison between the county and the contractor for animal shelter services and as an objective, fact-finding body when the board, the contractor, or the Sheriff’s Office requests the advice of the committee. There are openings for a representative of District I, District III, tribal government, veterinarian, equine, and Friends of Forks Animals (FFA).

Board of Equalization (1)

Established by RCW 84.48, the BOE receives appeals, holds hearings, evaluates evidence, and issues determinations of the fair market value of property within the county in the case of disputes between the county assessor and the property owner. Members are required to be U.S. citizens, residing in Clallam County for not less than two years. There is an opening for a representative of District III (roughly West End) position.

Boundary Review Board (4)

Autonomous board that, upon request by any jurisdiction affected by a boundary change such as an annexation proposal, reviews the proposal and has broad powers to determine logical boundaries, transfer of services, and other matters operating under the authority of RCW 36.93. There are openings for (2) representatives of Governor Appointee, Cities Appointee and Special District Appointee.

Building Code Board of Appeals (4)

Hears and decides appeals of orders, decisions or determinations made by the building official relative to the application and interpretation of the codes adopted in Clallam County Code 21.01, Building and Construction Code. There are openings for representatives of architect and an alternate.

Carlsborg Community Advisory Council (3)

Acts as a liaison between the citizens in the Carlsborg UGA and the Board of Commissioners for gathering and analyzing information, and making recommendations regarding community and growth management issues. There are openings for representatives of resident of a manufactured/mobile home park community with in Carlsborg UGA, business or real property owner within the Carlsborg Village Center, and an at-large member who is a real property owner within the UGA boundary.

Clallam Bay/Sekiu Community Action Team (1)

Assists in gathering and analyzing information, making recommendations and advancing the orderly growth and development of the area. There is an opening for an at-large representative.

Clallam Bay/Sekiu Sewer Advisory Committee (3)

Responsible for gathering accurate information regarding Clallam Bay-Sekiu sewer operations, rates and billing procedures, and making recommendations to the Board of Commissioners. There are openings for representatives of three committee member positions.

Crescent Community Advisory Council (1)

This committee acts as a liaison between the citizens living in the Crescent School District area and the Board of Commissioners on issues that may include land use, economic development, transportation and pedestrian improvements, capital projects and services, and community projects and activities. There is an opening for a representative of at-large.

Developmental Disabilities Advisory Committee (3)

Volunteers act in an advisory capacity to plan and make recommendations to the Board of Commissioners and the Department of Health and Human Services regarding programs and services for persons who have mental retardation, cerebral palsy, epilepsy, autism, other neurological impairments, or developmental disabilities and their families through service contracts with provider agencies. There are openings for representatives of three committee member positions.

Fair Advisory Board (5)

Assists the county in delivery of fair services to its residents and visitors. Under the direction of the Board of Commissioners through the Director of Parks, Fair, and Facilities, the advisory board holds public meetings as necessary, advises and assists the county in developing reasonable rules, fees, and regulations for the operation of the county fair; and program development strategies. There are openings for representatives of Grange, at-large, City of Port Angeles, Home Arts/Hobbies and Crafts, and Livestock.

Heritage Advisory Board (2)

The Board is responsible for advising the Clallam County Commissioners on various matters related to the preservation of the cultural heritage of the County. There are openings for representatives of District II and District III.

Homelessness Task Force (4)

The board is responsible for advising the Clallam County commissioners on various matters related to the issues regarding homelessness in Clallam County. There are openings for representatives of tribal government, United Way, and (2) homeless or formerly homeless.

Lodging Tax Advisory Committee (2)

Statute requires an advisory committee to review all proposed changes to expenditures from the Hotel/Motel Tax Fund and to make recommendations to the Board of Commissioners. There are openings for representatives of collector of the tax and potential user of fund.

Marine Resources Committee (1)

The Marine Resource Committee advises the county commissioners regarding issues related to the marine resources of the Strait of Juan de Fuca and its bays, estuaries and inlets within the borders of Clallam County. There is an opening for a Sequim City Council representative.

North Pacific Coast Marine Resources (2)

Assists in understanding, stewarding and restoring the marine and estuarine ecological processes of the North Pacific coast of Washington within the boundaries of Clallam and Jefferson counties in support of ecosystem health, sustainable marine resource-based livelihoods, cultural integrity and coastal communities. Members represent conservation/environmental groups, recreational groups, economic groups and the scientific community. There are openings for a Hoh Tribe member and Clallam County citizen (Conservation/Environmental Groups) representative.

Park and Recreation Advisory Board (1)

Assists the county in delivery of park and recreation services to its residents and visitors. Under the direction of the Board of Commissioners through the Director of Parks, Fair, and Facilities, the advisory board holds public meetings as necessary, advises and assists the county in developing reasonable rules, fees, and regulations for the operation of county parks and other recreational facilities, and reviews park acquisitions and development strategies. There is an opening for one representative.

Peninsula Housing Authority (1)

An autonomous, entity comprising Jefferson and Clallam County and created by state enabling legislation operating under a contract with the US Department of Housing & Urban Development to provide and maintain low-income housing for residents of Clallam County. The PHA Board of Commissioners is non-salaried and functions similarly to the Board of Directors of a private corporation. Its primary role is to establish policy for the public housing program including personnel, occupancy, lease, grievance and rent collection. The board also selects and employs theexecutive director of the Authority who is responsible for day-to-day operations and carrying out board policies. There is an opening for one representative.

Permit Advisory Board (5)

Makes recommendations to the Board of Commissioners and director of the Department of Community Development for changes in the building code and permitting. There are openings for representatives of Building trades, certified septic designer/installer, homebuilders’ association, manufactured homes/mobile home association and land surveyor.

Sheriff’s Citizens Advisory Committee (5)

Advisory to the Sheriff’s Office to provide an open link of communication between the Sheriff and the community. There are openings for representatives of Clallam Bay/Sekiu, Forks and unincorporated area, Quileute Tribe, Makah Tribe and Lower Elwha Klallam Tribe.

Solid Waste Advisory Committee (3)

This committee is comprised of representatives of each of the incorporated cities, the waste industry, tribal councils, Clallam County, state and federal agencies, private industry and at-large. The committee assists in the implementation of programs and policies concerning solid waste handling and disposal, and reviews and comments on proposed changes to the Comprehensive Solid Waste Management Plan. There are openings for representatives of solid waste industry (West Waste Recycling), business community, and agriculture community category.

Trails Advisory Committee (2)

Makes recommendations to the board and other appointed bodies of Clallam County government regarding non-motorized transportation and trail-related issues. There are openings for representatives of large private forest companyand City of Sequim.
