Robin Scott Hensley

Hensley, of Sequim, is charged with assault after allegedly threatening a man with a knife in the Safeway parking lot.

Police said officers responded to the parking lot at 10:47 a.m. July 1 and spoke with a man who said Hensley threatened him with a knife after almost hitting his car.

The man said he thought Hensley, 55, was going to stab him. Hensley told police the other man initiated the confrontation, though three witnesses said it appeared Hensley was the aggressor, according to a police report.

Hensley was arrested on suspicion of second-degree assault and charged with the same in Clallam County Superior Court. He was released from jail on his own recognizance and will be arraigned July 13.

Juston Alexander Smith

Officers arrested Smith, 23, of Sequim, on suspicion of assaulting his ex-girlfriend July 1. Sequim police officers said the woman reported Smith choked her at his residence. 

Though prosecutors filed a motion for determination of probable cause in Clallam County Superior Court on July 2, they did not file charges against Smith and referred the case to Sequim Municipal Court instead.

Michael Gregory Fleming

Fleming, 18, of Sequim, is suspected of unlawfully entering a home on the 200 block of Heath Road and stealing collector coins valued at about $30. 

Clallam County Sheriff’s deputies investigated a burglary reported June 27 and determined the suspect entered the house through a bathroom window, leaving a shoe print on the toilet bowl lid. The victim, who knows Fleming, said the young man recently asked to borrow money and was denied. 

Deputies contacted Fleming and found his shoes had a sole pattern matching the print on the toilet bowl lid. Fleming later admitted to stealing the coins, deputies said. 

Prosecutors filed a charge of residential burglary in Clallam County Superior Court on July 2 and arraignment is set for July 13.

Clifford Earl Hanning

Charged with residential burglary, Hanning, 25, of Sequim, remains in custody at the Clallam County jail in lieu of $5,000 bond. 

Port Angeles police believe Hanning broke into a home with a crowbar and a screwdriver around 11 p.m. June 24 on the 600 block of West Eighth Street. 

The woman living in the home told police she heard someone ring the front doorbell so she went to change out of her night clothes. As she went downstairs, she could hear someone taking apart the screen on her back door. She then saw Hanning, armed with a metal bar, reach through the screen, unlock the hook and enter her back porch, according to police reports. At that point, she called 9-1-1 and armed herself with a handgun. 

Hanning pried open the back door with the crowbar and screwdriver, at which point he was confronted by the woman and her handgun, police said. The woman pointed the gun at Hanning, told him she would shoot him, then pulled the trigger. The gun did not fire since the safety was still on. 

Hanning said he was sorry and ran away, the woman told police. She was able to identify him because he did work on the outside of her property and lived in the same apartment complex as her daughter, according to police. 

On July 2, acting on a tip, police located Hanning inside an apartment on the 800 block of East Fifth Street. Police said Hanning was hiding in a storage area inside of a couch. He refused to answer questions and denied any involvement in the burglary. 

He pleaded not guilty July 6 and trial is set for Aug. 22.
