Clallam County Public Utility District (PUD) No. 1 is celebrating Public Power Week, Oct. 6-12, along with 2,000 other community-powered, not-for-profit electric utilities that collectively provide electricity to 54 million Americans across 49 states and five territories.

“We take a tremendous amount of pride in the service we provide to our customers,” Clallam PUD general manager Sean Worthington said.

“We go to work each day with a sharp focus on our customers. Since we operate right here in Clallam County and serve our friends and neighbors, we care a great deal about things like customer service, helping folks save energy and money, and providing the most reliable service possible.”

Clallam PUD invites community members to participate in an open house from 1 a.m.-2 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 7, in the Lake Crescent boardroom at the Carlsborg Main Office, 104 Hooker Road, in Carlsborg. Enjoy coffee and cookies and the opportunity to ask questions in an informal chat format.

Visit department displays around the lobby and boardroom showcasing the projects and work that goes on behind the scenes of the utility. Pick up an LED carabiner while supplies last.

Weather-depending, there will be a bucket truck on display in the parking lot. Child-sized “hard hats” will be available for photo ops in the lobby with a bucket from a truck. The displays will be available for viewing all week.

Clallam PUD has 160 employees and serves more than 33,000 accounts in Clallam County.

Public Power Week is an annual national observance coordinated by the American Public Power Association. The American Public Power Association is the voice of not-for-profit, community-owned utilities that power approximately 2,000 towns and cities nationwide.
