The Clallam County Sheriff’s Office has probable cause for the arrest of 40-year-old Joshua Michael Mirka, a convicted sexual offender living on the Olympic Peninsula.
Anyone having information of the whereabouts of Mirka is urged to call the Clallam County Sheriff’s Office at 417-2459. If he or the vehicle is spotted, call 9-1-1. Mirka has a history of violence and should be considered dangerous, sheriff’s office officials said.
Mirka is listed as a 6-foot 1-inch, 240-pound white male with brown hair and hazel eyes, possibly driving a stolen white 1997 Ford F-150 with a Washington state license No. B83587K.
He was convicted of Rape 3rd Degree in 1997 and Indecent Liberties in 1998.
On Jan. 4, upon registering with the Clallam County Sheriff’s Office after being released from prison, Mirka registered as transient in Clallam County. Mirka has been a registered sex offender in Clallam County for many years where he has been registered both as transient and at a registered address.
On Sunday, July 9, at about 12:30 a.m., a deputy with the Clallam County Sheriff’s Office attempted to pull over a speeding truck in the Sequim-Dungeness area of Clallam County. The vehicle sped off and the deputy attempted to pursue the vehicle at speeds of up to 70 miles per hour. The deputy discontinued the pursuit, however located the abandoned vehicle a short time later. The vehicle was registered to Mirka.
The vehicle was impounded and processed for evidence. Later that night at about 10 p.m., Mirka called the Clallam County Sheriff’s Office to report that his truck was stolen, law enforcement officials sad. The pursuit is still an active investigation.
Mirka failed to check in with the Clallam County Sheriff’s Office on July 18, as he is required to do, sheriff’s officials said. Instead, Mirka showed up to a past co-worker’s house and asked if he and his girlfriend, 37-year-old Ami Huitt (AKA Ami Conlon), could spend the night, which was allowed. The next morning, Mirka requested to borrow a vehicle from the associate for an hour so that Huitt could visit her children. After an hour passed, the owner called Mirka to return the vehicle. During several phone calls Mirka claimed that he would return the vehicle soon. Eventually, Mirka then stopped answering his phone. The vehicle has now been reported stolen.
The vehicle is described as being a white 1997 Ford F-150 bearing Washington state license B83587K.
