First Federal has awarded $20,000 to the Peninsula College Entrepreneur Institute through the bank’s Community Dividend Program.

The funds will be used to help retain and grow existing small businesses, encourage the growth of new small businesses and develop skills for both business entrepreneurs and an entry-level workforce.

A major focus for the funds will be reduced fee or free classes and workshops specifically aimed at business planning, communication, professionalism and customer retention skills. The funds also will be used for student scholarships, technology advancements and a summer youth activity designed around entrepreneurial education and leadership.
