Cruisin’, puffin and
supportin’ the center
The Olympic Peninsula Audubon Society will offer Puffin Dinner Cruises around Protection Island July 18-19, during the Sequim Lavender Festival.
The two-hour cruises will leave from John Wayne Marina at 7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and return at 9 p.m. Passengers can expect to see several bird species, such as puffins, plus marine mammals.
All proceeds help support the Dungeness River Audubon Center. Call the River Center at 681-4076 for more information.
The Olympic Peninsula Audubon Society booth during the Lavender Festival will be located at the Purple Haze Lavender Farm on Bell Bottom Road.
Quilters show their stuff
Sunbonnet Sue Quilt Club will present its 23rd annual quilt show from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. on July 17, 18 and 19 at Sequim Middle School, 301 W. Hendrickson Road.
More than 200 quilts will be on display, all created by club members and on display in the club’s show for the first time.
The quilt show will include demonstrations of quilting techniques on community quilts, a Country Store and a Merchants Mall featuring quilt vendors from the region. Door prizes will be given out each day. Tickets for the 2009 raffle quilt can be purchased at the quilt show and the quilt will be raffled on Sunday afternoon. The winner need not be present to win.
The quilt show is two to three blocks from the Lavender Festival Street Fair. Free transportation is available via the Lavender Festival shuttle bus that runs every 15-20 minutes from 9 a.m.-7 p.m. Quilt show guests are encouraged to park at either the QFC or the JCPenney lot and take the shuttle bus into town. Parking also is available at Sequim Middle School.
