McHugh Realtors closes
After operating in Sequim for more than 35 years, local Realtors Paul and Rochelle McHugh are retiring.
Paul McHugh said they sold McHugh Realtors to Alan Burwell in 2006 and he operated the business until Aug. 1, when he moved his operations to the Windermere Sequim East office.
“We started winding down and not working as much as we did before (in 2006),” McHugh said. “Now that he has closed the company we have decided to retire completely.”
Burwell did not return a phone call requesting comment and staff at Windermere Sequim East said he is on vacation this week.
Guild raises funds
Sequim Guild for Seattle Children’s Hospital raised more than $3,200 for uncompensated care for children at Seattle Children’s Hospital at a recent garage sale.
The guild’s next fundraiser is the annual salmon bake from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 15, at Carrie Blake Park on Blake Avenue in Sequim. The guild will sell homemade pies, jams and jellies.
In 2009, more than $600,000 in uncompensated care was provided for children in Clallam County.

Strait Stamp Society show set
Strait Stamp Society holds its 15th annual stamp show from 9:30 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 7, at Sequim Masonic Hall, 700 S. Fifth Ave., Sequim.
More than 30 frames on many subjects will be on exhibit and a table full of penny stamps will be offered.
Seven dealers offer free appraisals.
A United States Postal Service station will sell stamps and provide a free show cachet.
Free stamp magazines and periodicals, a snack bar and door prizes will be available.

Improving family history research
