Sequim PC Users Group offers a presentation on recycling computers and electronics at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 15, in the computer laboratory, Room E-3, at Sequim High School, 601 N. Sequim Ave., Sequim.

Waste reduction specialist Helen Freilich provides e-cycle options for Clallam County. Dan Tharp provides information about recycling electronics at his business, Ecycle NW.

The presentation includes a short video shown by Steve Solberg on "How to Wipe Your Hard Drive For Recycling."

A suggested donation of $5 is requested from visitors.

PAFD breakfast

Port Angeles Fire Department’s annual pancake benefit breakfast will be held 8-11:30 a.m. Saturday, May 15, at the fire station, 102 E. Fifth St.

Pancakes, sausage, applesauce, bananas, coffee and juice are served.

Funds will be raised for emergency medical or fire service scholarships for Port Angeles High School graduates; fire relief baskets for fire victims; and community outreach services.

Cost is $5 for adults, $3 for children ages 3-12, and free for children under 3 years of age.

Wolfpack football meeting

The new Sequim Wolf Pack, a youth football league starting in the fall of 2010, is having a meeting for parents and interested parties from 6-7 p.m. on Wednesday, May 19 at the Sequim High School cafeteria, 601 N. Sequim Ave.

The league offers adult-supervised tackle football for youths of ages 6-12.

Teams play in the newly formed North Olympic Youth Football League.

Girl Scout Day Camp

Girl Scout Day Camp for 2010, "Take A Walk On The Wild Side," runs Monday-Friday, July 26-30, at Pioneer Memorial Park, 387 E. Washington St., Sequim.

Campers must be between first-seventh grade.

Fees are $50 for Girl Scouts and $62 for non-registered Girl Scouts.

Health care meeting

League of Women Voters Clallam County presents a town hall meeting "How the New Health Care Bill Affects You" at 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 18, in Linkletter Hall at Olympic Medical Center, 939 E. Caroline St., Port Angeles.

Speakers are Eric Lewis, chief executive officer of the center, who will discuss "How the Law Affects the Local Delivery of Health Care;" Tom Locke, health officer of Clallam and Jefferson counties, "How the Law Affects Your Public Health Services;" and Donald Mitchell, chairman of Western Washington chapter of Physicians for a National Health Program, "Where Do We Go From Here."

Highway headache

Roadside maintenance continues from 7 a.m.-3:30 p.m. through Thursday, May 13, on U.S. Highway 101 from the Morse Creek Bridge to Shore Road.

Both directions of the highway will be affected between mileposts 251 and 257.

Drivers should expect single lane closures.

Law Enforcement Memorial

A commemorative ceremony for National Law Enforcement Memorial Week will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, May 14, at the local replica of the Liberty Bell, at Veterans’ Memorial Park on Lincoln Street, north of the Clallam County courthouse.

The ceremony includes the reading of a proclamation issued by the county commissioners board, comments by Sheriff Bill Benedict, a 21-bell salute, and a benediction by sheriff’s chaplain Jim Chase.

Jessie Davis sings the national anthem.

She is the daughter of Clallam County Sheriff’s Deputy Wally Davis, who was killed while responding to a call for service on Aug. 5, 2000.

Stroke talk

Azella, a stroke victim who uses only one name, is forming a stroke support group that will meet from 2-4 p.m. the third Tuesday each month at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary hall, 169 E. Washington St., Sequim.

The first meeting is Tuesday, May 18.
