Teen Court McTakeover today
Clallam County Juvenile and Family Services Teen Court will take over McDonald’s from 6-8 p.m. today, Dec. 7.
Veterans are invited to eat and discuss the attack on Pearl Harbor.
Proceeds go to Teen Court training for 2011-2012.
Neal signs books at open house
Columnist Pat Neal will be signing books and CDs from 2-6 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 7, at the KSQM-FM open house at 577 W. Washington St. in Sequim.
Shoreline discussions
The Clallam County Planning Commission meets at 6:30 p.m. today, Dec. 7, at the Clallam County Courthouse, 223 E. Fourth St., Port Angeles. Items on the agenda include commission findings on the Nov. 16 Comprehensive Plan and Zoning Amendment application; an update on the Shoreline Master Program; and a presentation on Preliminary Draft Shoreline Environmental designations. There will be an opportunity for public comment.
Toys for Tots drive seeks gifts
The Marine Corps Reserve Toys For Tots Program is conducting its annual toy collections. The drive is experiencing high numbers of requests for toys this year.
To donate, drop off new, unwrapped toys in a collection box at any store displaying a Toys for Tots poster.
Salvation Army toy drive is on
The Salvation Army toy drive runs through Dec. 11. Drop-off bins are at all Safeway and Wave Broadband stores in Sequim and Port Angeles. On Saturday, Dec. 10, players from the local adult minor-league football team will be at the Safeway stores from 9 a.m.-3 p.m.
Festival Royalty hosts toy drive
Members of the Sequim Irrigation Festival Royalty are collecting unwrapped toys for children ages 5-15 to be donated to the Boys & Girls Club in Sequim.
The drive continues until Dec. 15.

‘Christmas Angel’ event helps parents provide gifts
The Crossing Church again offers its Christmas Angel event to provide parents in need with gifts for their children. The church invites parents to select gifts from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 10, at the church at Deer Park Cinema, 96 Deer Park Road, Port Angeles. Meet Santa at the Carnegie
Santa Claus greets young and old alike from 1-4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 10, at The Museum at the Carnegie, 207 S. Lincoln St., Port Angeles.
Exhibits on the lower level of the museum feature Christmas decorations and toys from the past. The Books Plus store offers current and “previously enjoyed” publications.

Library extends hours
Beginning Monday, Dec. 12, the North Olympic Library System offers extended service hours. New hours for the Sequim Library, 630 N. Sequim Ave., will be from 10 a.m.-8 p.m. Monday-Thursday; from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Friday; and from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday.
Donate blood Dec. 15
The Knights of Columbus Council 8455 and the Puget Sound Blood Center sponsor a blood drive from noon-3:45 p.m. and from 4:30-6 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 15, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 121 E. Maple St., Sequim.
Scheduling is on a first-come, first-served basis.

Fun at Lunch fills baskets for donation
Strait Occupational & Hand Therapy’s next brown-bag “Funch: Fun at Lunch” is from 12:05-1:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 15, at 708 S. Race St., Suite C, Port Angeles.
Participants should bring personal hygiene items to fill holiday baskets and bags provided; others may drop off items. Items are needed for six groups: adult female/male; teenage female/male; and child girl/boy.
Participants also are asked to bring an item for the Port Angeles Food Bank’s Friday Food Bank for Kids. Soup, juice boxes, granola bars, fruit cups and other nonperishable wrapped snacks are recommended.
Dessert will be provided. Space is limited to 10; register at 417-0703 by Dec. 13.

First Step hires development director
First Step Family Support Center, providing support and education services to families in Clallam County since 1971, has hired Melissa Randazzo as its development director.
Administration and marketing director of JACE the Real Estate Company for the past four years, Randazzo will be in charge of First Step’s fundraising, public outreach and advocacy portfolio.

Christmas tidings at Avamere
Avamere Olympic Rehabilitation of Sequim is marking the Christmas holidays with local Girl Scout Troup 41334 performing Christmas carols throughout the facility at 5 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 11.
The facility’s annual resident Christmas party will begin at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 22, with Christmas carols sung by staff, children and residents, followed by the arrival of Santa Claus at 3 p.m., distributing personalized gifts to each resident.
