Concerned Citizens of Clallam County, FourC, hosts Clallam County Sheriff Bill Benedict at the group’s monthly meeting at

7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 28, at the Boys & Girls Club, 400 W. Fir St., Sequim.

Benedict will speak on the duties of the sheriff’s office, the security of the county and the important role citizens play in the safety and welfare of communities.

People First Club hosts food drive Feb. 24

The People First Club of the Life Skills class, students with disabilities, at Sequim High School hosts a food drive benefiting the Sequim Food Bank from 8:30-10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 24, at QFC, 990 E. Washington St., and Safeway, 680 W. Washington St. They can accept donations of all kinds, including soups, peanut butter, tuna, cereal and pet foods.

Arabic Rhythm workshop

A “Basic Arabic Rhythm” workshop is from 5-6:30 p.m. today, Feb. 23, at the Sequim Senior Activity Center, 921 E. Hammond St., Sequim.

Bring wooden boxes or any materials that can be used as rhythm instruments to shake, rattle and drum to the beledi, masmoudi saghar and saidi rhythms of Egypt.

Annual show of driftwood sculpture

Olympic Driftwood Sculptors presents its third annual winter show from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday-Sunday, Feb. 26-27, at the Dungeness River Audubon Center at Railroad Bridge Park, 2151 W. Hendrickson Road, Sequim. Admission is free and cameras are welcome.

Sailing-themed pieces will be featured and artists will demonstrate works-in-progress. Unfinished driftwood and raffle tickets for a sculpture will be sold.

Committee seeks experts

Olympic Medical Center’s Wellness Committee is looking for health, fitness, healthy cooking and stress reduction experts to offer activities and educational opportunities for Olympic Medical Center employees on a limited, trial basis.

State charges Clallam nurse

In January, the state Nursing Assistant Program charged Adiah Hoppa-Baines Sutton of Clallam County with unprofessional conduct. She allegedly took $20 from a patient without permission and failed to respond to department inquiries about the allegation.

Ocean-going adventurer to speak

Extreme kayaker Chris Duff offers a talk and slide show at 7 p.m. Saturday, Feb 26, at the Port Angeles Senior Center, 328 E. Seventh St., Port Angeles. Duff will speak and show images of his kayaking trips around New Zealand’s South Island, Iceland, Ireland and Great Britain. He also will display the Northern Reach, a specially redesigned open rowboat he will use for his next expedition, a 500-mile ocean crossing from Scotland to Iceland.

Admission is by donation and proceeds will support the upcoming trip.

Antiques, classic cars highlight elegant flea sale

The Sequim Prairie Grange is the site for the 36th annual Elegant Flea Antique and Collectibles Sale from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Friday-Saturday, March 4-5, at 290 Macleay Road, Sequim. More than 35 vendors, a classic car show, bake sale, performances by harpist David Michael, and doll appraisals/repairs highlight the sale, a fundraiser for the Museum and Arts Center in the Sequim-Dungeness Valley.

Sequim Sunrise Rotary holds its ninth annual auction on Friday, March 18, at the Sunland Golf and Country Club, 109 Hilltop Drive, Sequim. This year’s theme is Auction at The Hop! School workshop set for March 12

The Sequim School District’s strategic plan workshop has been postponed until Saturday, March 12.

The workshop is from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. in the commons at Sequim Community School, 220 W. Alder St., Sequim.

Community members are invited to join the workshop presentation and discussion as the district reviews the status of the current plan and considers important goals and strategies for the ensuing plan.

Those who choose to attend the March 12 workshop may expect to review the progress the district has made since the inception of the plan, to learn about current issues and to participate in a discussion of district goals.

Lunch is provided at no charge.

Egyptian dance class

Lydia Samperi teaches Raks Saidi’ or Raks Al-Assaya dance from 5-6:30 p.m. Wednesdays, March 2-April 6, at the Sequim Senior Activity Center, 921 E. Hammond St., Sequim.
