Meeting to prevent bullying
Sequim Middle School Parent Teacher Student Association hosts a free forum on preventing bullying at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 12, in the cafeteria.
Sequim Police Officer Tony Graham and Mac McIntyre from Peninsula Mental Health are guest speakers. Refreshments will be served with free child care available.

Homebuyers class planned
A free six-hour class for first-time buyers navigating the home purchase process starts at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 22, at the Sequim Library, 630 N. Sequim Ave.
Olympic Community Action Programs and Homeward Bound are two of the partner organizations that offer the class.
The goal is to prepare people for homeownership and familiarize them with the homebuying process and loan programs.

Gateway tickets on sale
Tickets are on sale for The Gateway, an event supporting the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Olympic Peninsula and the Promise of Hope Foundation. Promise of Hope shares 100 percent of its donations to support access to education to orphans and needy children in Uganda.
The Gateway will begin at 4:30 p.m. Saturday, March 19, in the Club 7 Lounge at 7 Cedars Casino, 270756 Highway 101, Blyn.
The event includes a buffet dinner, no host bar, live and silent auctions.

Dance class taught
Lydia Samperi teaches Middle Eastern dance classes from 6-6:30 p.m. Wednesdays, Jan. 12-Feb. 16 at Sequim Senior Activity Center, 921 E. Hammond St., Sequim.
Students learn a short choreography to a Turkish pop song with a lively beat and work on techniques of the basic dance moves, combinations and ways to move using transitions.
No previous dance experience required.
The cost is $35 for senior center members and $40 for nonmembers. Call 683-6806.

Local speedboaters get airtime
Speedboat drivers from the Lucas Oil-sponsored Wicked Racing are being featured on SpeedTV this weekend in a show called “Lucas Oil on the Edge.”
The first of three segments featuring local drivers is scheduled to air on SpeedTV at 4 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 8. (SpeedTV is channel 150 on the Dish Network, 607 on DirecTV and is available with most cable packages.) Re-airing of the first segment shows at 12:30 p.m. on Jan. 10 and 4 a.m. on Jan. 15.
Driver Dan Morrison of Port Angeles is featured in the first segment.
The second segment (no air date known as of press time) features Sequim’s Paul Gahr, and the third features Dillon Brown, also of Sequim.
Thrift shop open
The Sequim Dungeness Hospital Guild’s thrift shop, 204 W. Bell St., Sequim, will be open 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 15. All white-tagged items will be marked at half-price that day. Call 683-7044.

Trail work party set for Saturday
Peninsula Trails Coalition hosts its next “Second Saturday” work party from 10 a.m.-noon Saturday, Jan. 15, when volunteers plant flower bulbs at Railroad Bridge Park.
Helpers are asked to bring work gloves, a shovel, a bucket and a pick.
Meet at the west parking lot at Railroad Bridge Park off Sawmill Road.
