Electoral College seminar
A free seminar "Why Abolish the Electoral College?" will be held from 3-5 p.m. Thursday, June 10, at the Sequim Library, 630 N. Sequim Ave.
According to the presenter Clint Jones, the Electoral College violates the Constitution, deprives voters of equality, does not make sense and ignores common democratic principles.

Painting donated
Susan Gansert Shaw donated "Three Berries at Sunset," a framed original pastel and watercolor painting, to the Washington National Park Fund’s "Last Dam Summer Party" fundraiser auction.
The auction will be held 7-10 p.m. Thursday, May 27, at Holiday Inn Express, 1442 E. Washington St., Sequim.

Photographer’s story
"The Photographer’s Story," a free presentation on the making of the book "Fast Moving Water: the Hoh River Story," will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, June 17, at the Port Angeles Library, 2210 S. Peabody St., and 7 p.m. at the Sequim Library, 630 N. Sequim Ave.

Safety Day
The ninth annual Community Safety Day will be 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, June 5, on Fourth Street between the Clallam County Courthouse and Vern Burton Community Center in Port Angeles.
Families can meet with first responders and see emergency service vehicles. Car-seat technicians will check car seats and fit them in vehicles properly. Free bicycle helmets will be given out until gone. Children can practice fire safety by escaping from the fire district’s "smoke house." Safety handouts and prizes will be given out. All ages are welcome.

Sheepish fun
For more than 25 years, the Olympic Peninsula Fiber Growers Association has sponsored the Shepherds’ Festival. The free festival includes arts and crafts, handmade items and food.
It has a petting farm hosted by the Lambchops 4-H Club, spinning demonstrations by the North Olympic Shuttle & Spindle Guild, herding dog demonstrations, sheep shearing demonstrations and llamas.
Events run from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday, May 31, at the Sequim Prairie Grange, 290 Macleay Road.
Lake Crescent picnic
Tom and Carrie Sanford host Olympic Park Institute’s third annual summer picnic from 3-6 p.m. Saturday, June 12, at Olympic Park Institute, 111 Barnes Point Road, Port Angeles.
Hiking, canoeing, exploring old-growth forests and other family friendly activities are planned.
Food, beverages and live music will be available.
Life jackets are required for canoeing. The institute is unable to provide life jackets for children under 50 pounds.

Trails work parties
Peninsula Trails Coalition work parties will be on the west side of Port Angeles from
9 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturdays, beginning June 5.
Park and meet at West 10th Street and Milwaukee Road.
Bring work gloves and trail brushing equipment.
Make lunch reservations by noon Thursday, June 3.

WAG holds sale
Welfare for Animals Guild holds a garage sale from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, June 5, at 165 Howe Road, off North Barr Road in Agnew.
Donated items in good shape and working are needed. No clothing or shoes.

WIC giveaway
Clallam County Health and Human Services WIC Nutrition Program gives away checks to clients from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, June 5, at the Port Angeles Farmers Market in the Gateway Bus Transfer Center, corner of Front and Lincoln streets.
WIC is a supplemental food program for women, infants and children.
Besides up to $20 per person in farmers
market checks for fresh locally grown produce, nutrition education, recipes and giveaway items are available at the organization’s booth.
