Prescription Take-Back Day set
Countywide local law enforcement agencies, including the Sequim Police Department, will participate in the Nationwide Prescription Take-Back Day sponsored by the federal Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).
Individuals can drop off expired, unused and unwanted prescription drugs for destruction from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 26 at the Sequim Police Department, 152 W. Cedar St. Individuals may also drop off vaping pens without the internal batteries for destruction. Staff and volunteers will be on hand to accept the items.
Drugs can also be dropped off Monday-Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The service is free and anonymous, with no questions asked. The collection service will include both controlled and non-controlled prescription drugs as well as over-the-counter medications. The police department will also accept illegal drugs for destruction. Syringes and medical waste will not be accepted.
Prescription drugs should never be flushed down the toilet or washed down a sink drain.

Rally in the Alley readied
The city of Sequim, in partnership with Habitat for Humanity of Clallam County and Olympic Disposal, will hold the next “Rally in the Alley” — an event for disposing of unwanted items — on Saturday, April 26 from 9:30-11:30 a.m. or until dumpsters are full.
Organizers ask that people not show up early for the event.
Dumpsters will be located at Carrie Blake Park near the pickleball courts and City Shop at Third and Hemlock Streets.
Volunteers will be on site to assist city residents with discarding of unwanted items at no cost. No tires, appliances, liquid paint, gas, fuel or oil will be accepted.
Those who have signed up to volunteer are asked to gather at 9 a.m. at the Carrie Blake Park location to receive assignments.
‘Constitutional Primer’ course in PA
The Clallam County Democrats will present a five-part series called “A Constitutional Primer: Why the Constitution Matters” beginning Wednesday, May 7 from 6-7 p.m. at party headquarters, 124-A W. First St. in Port Angeles.
The first session will be presented by Tom Peet, PhD, a longtime educator and Lincoln scholar. He will introduce participants to the Constitution — the oldest written constitution in the world — using words of the founders who created it, the seven core principles upon which it stands, the structure found within it, its reflection of the American character at its best, rights that were specifically protected, and the philosophers whose works are its foundation.

‘Dislikeable Birds’ at DRNC
Ken Wierseman’s presentation “Dislikeable Birds,” originally planned for May as part of the Olympic Peninsula Audubon Society’s Backyard Birding series, has been moved to Saturday, April 26. The presentation will take place from 1:30-3:30 p.m. in Rainshadow Hall at Dungeness River Nature Center, 1943 W. Hendrickson Road.
The usual schedule will return on June 7.
Many people enjoy seeing local hummingbirds, robins, goldfinches, swallows, swans, and an occasional Bald Eagle, but there are also birds that some dislike, such as European Starlings, House Sparrows, gulls, Barred Owls, crows, cormorants, and vultures. Some of these dislikeable birds are native to Washington and North America, while some are introduced.

MOW drivers needed
Coastal Community Action Program (CCAP) needs volunteer drivers to deliver Meals on Wheels (MOW) in Clallam and Jefferson counties. Volunteers must pass a background check. Those interested can contact Tammy at 360-477-4456 between 8 a.m. and 7 p.m.

Clallam Bay/Sekiu meeting
The Clallam Bay/Sekiu Community Advisory Committee will hold a public meeting at the Sekiu Community Center, 42 Rice St. in Sekiu, at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 8. An agenda will be posted on the county’s website, clallamcountywa.gov.
The Clallam Bay/Sekiu Community Advisory Committee provides feedback to Clallam County on issues related to the Clallam Bay/Sekiu area.

Forks All-Class Reunion
Any Sequim residents who are former students of Forks and Beaver schools are welcome to attend the Annual All-Class Reunion on Saturday, April 26.
The reunion dinner is at the Forks Elks Lodge, 941 Merchant Road, and serves as a fundraiser for the Elks.
Doors open at 5 p.m. for visiting and snacks, decade group photos are scheduled for 6 p.m., and dinner is served following the photos.
Cost is $35 per person.
Students who left before graduation, who have never attended this reunion before, will need to have their names added to the Elks required guest list. This annual event always takes place on the last Saturday in April.
