Pies and Desserts auction set at Grange
Sequim Prairie Grange will hold its annual Pies and Desserts Auction on Wednesday, March 22. The evening begins with a potluck dinner at 6:30 p.m., followed by the auction. Slices of pie also will be offered for donations. All funds raised go to Seattle Children’s Hospital. Those attending are asked to bring something for the dinner and, if inclined, a homemade pie or dessert for the auction. Everyone is invited.
Sewer project work on highway continues
Clallam County officials say work for the Carlsborg Sewer Project continues at night from 7 p.m.-6 a.m. through Friday, March 17, across U.S. Highway 101 from Carlsborg Road to Hooker Road. Traffic control will be in place so expect delays.

An introductory meeting about homeschool options is set for 6:30-8:30 p.m. tonight Wednesday, March 15, at the Sequim Library, 630 N. Sequim Ave.
Hosted by Ann Marie Henninger, the event is designed for those families considering homeschooling or who are homeschooling and have questions.
In the first hour, Henninger talks about testing/assessments, keeping records, subjects, what qualifies as homeschooling and more. In the second hour, teen homeschool students field questions.

Sequim Boy Scouts offering lawn aeration
As a fundraiser, Sequim Boy Scout Troop 1498 offers lawn aeration services Saturday-Sunday, March 18-19. Cost is $59 for up to 1/4 acre. Owners need not be home for the service but need to have lawns mowed, underground sprinkler heads marked and dog waste picked up. Make checks payable to Boy Scout Troop 1498. New in town?
If you are new to Sequim or considering relocating to Sequim, the “New in Town Conversation” gathering has been designed for you. The events are from 2:30-4:30 p.m. each third Wednesday every other month at First Federal, 333 N. Sequim Ave., Sequim.
The next is today, March 15, with guest Jenna Ziogas, one of the volunteer coordinators at the Dungeness River Audubon Center.

Beebe reelected, board election canceled
Sequim-area resident Robert Beebe has been re-elected to the Clallam Conservation District board of supervisors. Beebe was the only candidate to file for the office before the Feb. 14 deadline.
According to state conservation district elections rules, if the incumbent is the only eligible candidate to file for the position, no election is required. Therefore, polling that had been scheduled for Tuesday, March 14, was not conducted.
Coffee with mayor set
The City of Sequim’s Coffee with the Mayor program resumes in March. Sequim residents can meet informally with Mayor Dennis Smith at 8:30 a.m. Thursday, March 16, at the Bell Creek Bar and Grill, 707 E. Washington St. City Manager Charlie Bush will join the mayor for the meeting. Smith will be at the Bell Creek Bar and Grill each month to listen to anyone who wants to chat, ask questions, express a concern, or make a comment about the city or the community. County commission to talk zoning issues
The Clallam County Planning Commission meets at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 15, at the Clallam County Courthouse, 223 E. Fourth St., Port Angeles. The agenda includes a continued discussion of the rural zoning districts and evaluate existing development standards and land uses in order to maintain the rural character. ‘Catnip and Sip’ on tap
Peninsula Friends of Animals hosts its spring tea, fashion show and auction, “Catnip and Sip,” from noon-3 p.m. Saturday, April 8, at Sunland Golf &Country Club, 109 Hilltop Drive, Sequim. Tickets are $35 and may be purchased at Heather Creek in Sequim or Safehaven. Proceeds benefit the PFOA rescue animals. Donated auction items are being accepted.

Tickets available for Lincoln Day event
Tickets are still available for the Clallam County Republican Party’s annual Lincoln Day Dinner and Auction, set for 5 p.m. Saturday, March 25, at the Red Lion Hotel, 221 N. Lincoln St.
Tickets are $60 per person or $110 per couple. The guest speaker is Fredi Simpson, Washington state Republican National Committee member.

Revised driving route at Carrie Blake Park
The City of Sequim reminds the community that the driving route on the north side of Carrie Blake Community Park is now one-way flowing west to east. Vehicle traffic enters off of Blake Avenue and exits off of Rhodefer Road.
There is no park entry for motor vehicles off of Rhodefer Road and no parking allowed on either side of Rhodefer Road for safety reasons.
The change was made to increase safety to visitors of the park and to accommodate additional parking spots to support the numerous events at the park including the use of the Albert Haller Playfields and the James Center for the Performing Arts.

Sequim Senior Nutrition Site menus are served at 4:30 p.m. at the Shipley Center, 921 E. Hammond St., on Tuesdays-Fridays.
Suggested donation is $5 (60 and over), $8 guest and a 24-hour advance reservation is needed. RSVP to 683-8491. Menus are subject to change.
