Footwear talk slated

Biomechanist and local author Katy Bowman will discuss what the latest research is saying about feet and shoes, and demonstrate simple exercises everyone can do for healthier feet.
Bunco fundraiser on tap
The Olympic Medical Center Auxiliary presents a bunco fundraiser from 7-9 p.m. Thursday, March 19, at the Port Angeles Senior Center, 328 E. Seventh St. There will be a crazy hat contest, prizes, a raffle and refreshments.
Tickets are $10 and are available at the door or at the gift shop at OMC. All proceeds benefit Olympic Medical Center.

PFOA offers free spays/neuters
Peninsula Friends of Animals sponsors a yearly event for low-income families to honor February National Spay/Neuter Month. This year 32 large male/female canines will be altered at its expense during a three-day event March 23 and March 25-26 at Sequim Animal Hospital.

Planning commission to discuss marijuana
The Clallam County Planning Commission meets at 6:30 p.m. March 18, at the Clallam County Courthouse, 223 E. Fourth St., Port Angeles. The agenda items include the Draft November 2014 Clallam County Shoreline Master Program and a review of recreational marijuana policies.
Hospital guild presents ‘Younger by Friday’
The Sequim Dungeness Hospital Guilds Speaker Series will feature Heidi and Jay Bryan, owners of Aynytime Fitness, with a combined 40-plus years experience in the health and fitness industry at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 24, in the Community Hall of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, 525 N. Fifth Ave., Sequim.
They will present a talk and demonstration on exercise for seniors and make you “Younger by Friday.” The public is invited to the speaker portion of this meeting.
Reading tutor training set
Interested in becoming a volunteer reading tutor at one of Sequim’s elementary schools?

Wildlife rescue classes set
Two training sessions will be held on wildlife and oil exposure in the Exposition Hall at the Clallam County Fairgrounds, 1608 W. 16th St., Port Angeles. The first, Oiled Wildlife Basic Intake & Stabilization, is from 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Saturday, March 28; register by March 21. The Clallam County chapter of NAMI has cancelled its meeting for Thursday, March 19.
Free community dinner set
A free community dinner will be served at 5 p.m. Thursday, March 26, at Trinity United Methodist Church, 100 S. Blake Ave. The meal includes baked ham, sweet potatoes, vegetables, green salad, desserts and beverages.

9 a.m.-2 p.m. on the Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday before the dinner or by e-mail to dinners@sequimtumc.org. The church presents the dinners on the last Thursday of each month.
Local Scout fundrasier offers lawn aeration
As a fundraiser, Sequim Boy Scout Troop 1498 offers lawn aeration services Saturday-Sunday, April 11-12. Cost is $50 for up to one-quarter acre. Owners need not be home for the service but need to have lawns mowed, underground sprinkler heads marked and dog waste picked up. Make checks payable to: Boy Scout Troop 1498. Sequim Pre-3 signups
Sequim Pre-3 is a nonprofit organization for parents and guardians with children ages 10 months to 3-and-a-half years old. Parents come weekly with their children for a variety of activities including music, art, social interactions, dramatic and outdoor play.
There are two classes available: Tuesdays or Fridays, from 9:30-11:30 a.m. at the Sequim Worship Center, 640 N. Sequim Ave., next to the Sequim Library. Spring quarter runs through June 5. For more information, call Kelsey Horst at 360-504-1011.
Parade applications due

Easter egg hunt set
Organizers of the Sequim Elks Lodge’s community easter egg hunt on Saturday, April 4, are in need of clean plastic eggs.

Breakfast at the grange
Sequim Prairie Grange, 290 Macleay Road, will serve a pancake breakfast from 7:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Sunday, March 22. In addition to pancakes, the menu includes ham, eggs and beverages. Cost is $5 for adults and $3 for children ages 10 and younger. Proceeds will be used for maintenance on the grange’s building and grounds.
Author speaks on marijuana
Roger Roffman, author and University of Washington professor emeritus, speaks about the impacts of cannabis legalization at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, March 26, in the Raymond Carver Room of the Port Angeles Library, 2210 S. Peabody St.
Drawing from his 2014 memoir “Marijuana Nation,” Roffman explores how legalization brings both opportunities and pitfalls.

Rabbit adoption scheduled
Join North Olympic Rabbit Rescue leader and expert Brandon Montoya for “Rabbit Adoption” days from noon-5 p.m. Friday, March 20, at Best Friend Nutrition, 680 W. Washington St, Ste. B102, Sequim.
This event will give people the opportunity to learn more about rabbit nutrition and care and considerations for becoming an adoption home for rabbits in need.
Rabbits will be on site for petting and learning. All purchases from the retail stores “Rabbit Central” will be 10 percent off during the event.

Sequim Senior Nutrition Site menus are served at 4:30 p.m. at Suncrest Village Retirement Apartments, 251 S. Fifth Ave. Suggested donation is $5 (60 and over), $8 guest, and a 24-hour advance reservation is needed.
