FBLA club hosting computer workshop

The final in a series of computer workshops by Sequim High School’s Future Business Leaders of America students is at 10:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. Saturday, March 25, at the high school , 601 N. Sequim Ave., in Room A-3. The session is open to the public.

There is no admission fee, but donations to help with the team’s travel to state competition are welcome. The basics of the computer will be covered.

Rummage sale on tap in Port Angeles

The preschool at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church at 301 E. Lopez Ave. in Port Angeles is holding its annual rummage sale fundraiser, scheduled for 9 a.m.-3 p.m., March 24-25, in the church’s Fellowship Hall.

The preschool will be accepting donations of slightly used items (no large furniture or electronics) from the public through March 23.

In addition to the rummage sale, the church will be holding a bake sale to support the preschool.

YMCA director to speak at guild meeting

The Sequim Dungeness Hospital Guild’s speaker series and business meeting will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 28, in the community hall of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, 525 N. Fifth Ave., Sequim.

The public is invited to the first portion of this meeting; the speaker series features Kurt Turner from the YMCA of Sequim.

He will provide information on classes, equipment available and training. After a short recess, the regular business meeting of the guild will resume. Call 683-7044 for more information.

Pancake breakfast set

Sequim Prairie Grange members will serve a pancake breakfast from 7:30 a.m.- 1 p.m. Sunday, March 26, at the Grange Hall, 290 Macleay Road.

In addition to pancakes, the menu includes ham, eggs and beverages. Cost is $5 for adults, $3 for children under the age 10.

The grange will use the profits for upkeep of the building and its many projects.

Trap Team hosting fundraising event

The Sequim High School Trap Team is hosting a fundraiser shoot, set for 10 a.m. Saturday, March 25, at the Port Angeles Gun Club, 253093 U.S. Highway 101.

Registration begins at 9:30 a.m. Cost is $25 and includes three lines and three games (participants need to bring their owns shells along with ear and eye protection). Lunch is available for $5.

A corresponding breakfast is scheduled at the Sequim Elks Lodge (143 Port Williams Road), with all proceeds donated to the trap team; cost is $8 and includes sausage, bacon, scrambled eggs, potatoes, pancakes, juice and coffee.

Woodturners to ‘chuck’ it all at meeting

The next meeting of the Strait Turners will be from 9:30 a.m.-noon Tuesday, March 28, at the Gardiner Community Center, 980 Old Gardiner Road, Sequim.

John Elliott will demonstrate the variety of “chucks” available to woodturners. The club welcomes turners of all levels.

Trinity United putting on free dinner

A free community dinner will be served at 5 p.m. Thursday, March 30, at Trinity United Methodist Church, 100 S. Blake Ave.

The meal includes baked ham, sweet potatoes, vegetables, fruit salad, dessert and beverages.

Reservations are required; call 683-5367 between 9 a.m.-2 p.m. the Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday before the dinner or by email to dinnerstumc@aol.com. The church presents the dinners on the last Thursday of each month.

Shipley Center seeking plant donations

The Shipley Center, 921 E. Hammond St., is accepting donations of plants for the plant sale at the Shipley Center’s First Annual Spring Fling Bazaar, Bake Sale and Plant Sale. Set for 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, April 22, the bazaar features more than 30 vendors. The center’s café also will be open with a limited menu. For more information, call 683-6806.

Health fair set at PC

Peninsula College nursing students host the Peninsula College Health Fair for students and the community from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Thursday, March 30, in the Pirate Union Building, 1502 E. Lauridsen Blvd.

The fair aims to make students and community members aware of personal health issues, as well as the community resources available to address them. Interactive displays and demonstration booths will address topics such as stress management, reproductive health, diabetes awareness, outdoor safety and more.

Classes for caregivers planned

“Powerful Tools for Caregivers,” a class that helps those who care for a loved one also take care of themselves, will start April 4 at Trinity United Methodist Church, 100 S. Blake Ave., Sequim. The class will meet from 9-11:30 a.m. on six Tuesdays, ending May 9. The only cost is $30 for the textbook. The class does not focus on hands-on care for the care receiver. NPBA schedules surplus sale for April 8

The North Peninsula Building Association will hold its annual Builders Surplus Sale at the Clallam County Fairgrounds from noon-3 p.m. Saturday, April 8.

There will be a large selection of new and used building materials and home improvement supplies along with discounted service certificates for landscaping materials.

The NPBA welcomes donations from the public of saleable items. Limited pick-up service is available. Call the NPBA office for drop-off arrangements or additional details at 452-8160.

Annual Easter egg hunt returns to Elks Lodge

Sequim Elks Lodge No. 2642 hosts its annual Easter Egg Hunt, starting at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 15. The event is open to youths up to 11 years old. The lodge is at 143 Port Williams Road. For more information, call Karen Lewis at 460-0380 or email 3lewis@q.com.

Event organizers also are looking for donations of plastic eggs. Donate at the lodge during office hours: 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

Knoshing event to benefit Clallam’s Habitat for Humanity

“A Taste of the Peninsula” will benefit Habitat for Humanity of Clallam County beginning at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, April 15, at the Sunland Golf &Country Club, 109 Hilltop Drive, Sequim.

A number of local entities will provide the food.

Senior menu set

Sequim Senior Nutrition Site menus are served at 4:30 p.m. at the Shipley Center, 921 E. Hammond St., on Tuesdays-Fridays.

Suggested donation is $5 (60 and over), $8 guest and a 24-hour advance reservation is needed.
