New Sequim City Council office hours set
Beginning in June, members of the Sequim City Council will be available to meet with Sequim residents at regularly scheduled office hours, from 3-4 p.m. Wednesdays 10-11 a.m. Thursdays. Residents can stop by the City Administrative offices at 226 N. Sequim Ave. to meet a council member and discuss ideas and concerns.
The new office hours are in addition to the “Coffee with the Mayor” program which meets in a different published location on the first and third Thursday of the month at 8:30 a.m.

Planning group to meet
The Clallam County Planning Commission meets at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 4, at the Clallam County Courthouse, 223 E. Fourth St. Agenda items include a review of proposed revisions to the Draft Clallam County Comprehensive Stormwater Management Plan. Call 417-2277.
Ground breaking ceremony
Anna Barrigan, chairman of the board of the Salvation Army Port Angeles Corps, invites the Shelter Providers Network to a groundbreaking ceremony and barbecue at noon Wednesday, June 4, at its new social service building on Peabody Street between First and Second streets in the old NAPA building.
Streamkeepers’ annual training begins June 4
Streamkeepers, Clallam County’s volunteer stream monitoring program, is seeking new volunteers to help collect stream health data, perform data entry and analysis, and conduct education and outreach. It currently has a particular need for help with data entry and checking.
Streamkeepers’ annual training is from 6-9 p.m. Wednesday, June 4, at the Clallam County Courthouse and consists of an introductory evening session and two full-day classes including both indoor and outdoor instruction. SMUG meets in June
The Strait Macintosh User Group will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 4, at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, 525 N. Fifth Ave., Sequim. The presenter is Richard Johnston and his topic is “An Apple for the Teacher.” Johnston will examine ways to further your education with Apple devices, including iTunes and iBooks textbooks. All are welcome.
OMC cancels board meeting
The Board of Commissioners of Olympic Medical Center has cancelled its June 4 board meeting scheduled for 12:30 pm.
The next regularly scheduled meeting of the board is at 6 p.m. June 18, in Linkletter Hall at Olympic Memorial Hospital.
‘Gone With the Breeze’
Olympic Peninsula Academy students will present “Gone With the Breeze,” a parody of “Gone With the Wind,” at 7 p.m. Thursday-Friday, June 5-6; and 1:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. Saturday, June 7. Suggested donation is $5. The performance will be at the Sequim High School auditorium at 301 N. Sequim Ave. in Sequim.
Coffee with the Mayor
The City of Sequim’s “Coffee with the Mayor” program continues in June. Sequim residents can meet informally with Mayor Candace Pratt at 8:30 a.m. Thursday, June 5, and with Mayor Pro Tem Dennis Smith at 8:30 a.m. Thursday, June 19, at Adagio Bean and Leaf, 981 E. Washington St.
The mayor or mayor pro tem will be at a different published location each month to listen to anyone who wants to chat, ask questions, express a concern, or make a comment about the city or the community.
Annual Trinity rummage sale slated for June 6-7
Selections ranging from tools to jewelry will be offered at the annual rummage sale from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. Friday, June 6, and 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, June 7, at Trinity United Methodist Church, 100 Blake Ave. Among other merchandise will be furniture, appliances, clothing, books, plants and specialty dolls. Ocean climate focus of weekend events
Olympic Climate Action hosts Dana Lyons in concert at 7:30 p.m. Friday, June 6, at the Elwha Klallam Heritage Training Center, 401 E. First St., Port Angeles. Admission is $10.
On Saturday, June 7, from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. the group hosts “Our Oceans in a Changing Climate” with speakers throughout the day at the Olympic Coast National Marine Sanctuary, near the Port Angeles waterfront, in the second floor conference room. Sand castle judging is at 12:15 p.m. at Hollywood Beach.
Learn to row
Love to get a little exercise in the great outdoors, fresh air and beautiful scenery? Then “Learn to Row Day” is for you. The Olympic Peninsula Rowing Association hosts its annual day to learning rowing from 8-11 a.m. on Saturday, June 7, at the association’s boathouse on Ediz Hook in Port Angeles.
The event is for both youths at least 12 years old as well as adults. The instructor is Brazilian rowing coach Rodrigo Rodrigues.

Babies and toddlers invited
Workshops on movement and play for babies and toddlers will be offered at the Sequim and Port Angeles libraries Saturday, June 7. The Sequim workshop will be at 10:30 a.m. and the Port Angeles workshop, which is part of the Library’s Get Moving program series, will be at 2 p.m.
Christine Roberts, founder of Nurturing Pathways®, Inc., will guide parents and caregivers of babies and toddlers ages 0-2 as they explore new ways to play, dance and sing together.
Ice cream social on tap
Sequim Prairie Grange will have an ice cream social from 2-4 p.m. Sunday, June 8. The cost is $5 for a banana split or a sundae. Proceeds will go to benefit Voices for Veterans. The Grange hall is at 290 Macleay Road. For more information, contact Marie at 683-4599.

School materials committee to meet June 12
The Sequim School District’s Instructional Materials Committee meeting is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 12, in the district’s professional development room, 503 N. Sequim Ave.
The committee will review proposed instructional materials for the following Sequim High School courses: Advanced Placement U.S. History, AP Language, AP Economics, AP Computer Science and Intensified Algebra.

Farmers Market begins children’s activities
A new hands-on Family Activity Series begins at the Sequim Farmers Market on Saturday, June 7. The Dungeness River Center hosts the first, free engaging activities for children from 10 a.m.-noon with no sign-up necessary.
