Transfer stations close for Thanksgiving holiday

The Port Angeles Regional Transfer Station will be closed Thursday, Nov. 27, and will be open as usual from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. on both Friday, Nov. 28, and Saturday, Nov. 29. The Blue Mountain Transfer Station is closed on Nov. 27. It will reopen from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 29.


Celebrate Thanksgiving at Trinity United

A traditional Thanksgiving turkey dinner will be served at 4 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day at Trinity United Methodist Church, 100 S. Blake Ave., Sequim.

Reservations, which are requested to ensure that enough food is prepared, may be made by phoning the church at 683-5367 between 9 a.m.-2 p.m. on Monday,-Wednesday before the dinner or by e-mail to dinners@sequimtumc.org.

The free dinner is part of Trinity’s community dinner program. Dinners normally are served on the last Thursday of each month, but because of other holiday season activities, there will be no dinner in December.


Free holiday dinner set at Queen of Angels

Queen of Angeles Catholic Church, 209 W. 11th St., Port Angeles, will have its seventh annual and free community Thanksgiving dinner from 11:30 a.m.-4 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 27, at the parish hall. The public is invited.


Holiday bazaar set

The Sequim High School Band Boosters will have its annual Down Home Holiday Bazaar from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Friday-Saturday, Nov. 28-29, at the high school cafeteria, 601 N. Sequim Ave. It will feature handmade gifts and crafts. Proceeds benefit the SHS band.


Preschool sessions start

Sequim Pre-Three Co-op is a nonprofit early learning program for parents and children. Parents come weekly with their children for a variety of activities including music, art, social interactions, dramatic and outdoor play. Winter classes start on Tuesday, Dec. 2, and Friday, Dec. 5, from 9:30-11:30 a.m. at the Sequim Worship Center, 640 N. Sequim Ave.

Coffee House takes a break

There will be no Sequim Deaf Coffee House in December. The club will next meet on Jan. 10.

Mayor coffees on hiatus

Because of holiday schedules, there will be no City of Sequim “Coffee with the Mayor” program in December or January. Regular meetings are expected to convene in February.

 

The “Coffee with the Mayor” program gives Sequim residents the opportunity to meet informally with Mayor Candace Pratt on the first and third Thursdays of each month at 8:30 a.m. at a different published location. Call Pratt at 582-0114 or e-mail cpratt@

Park officials announce      reservation changes

The Clallam County Parks, Fair and Facilities Department announces that a new reservation system for Salt Creek and Dungeness Recreation Areas will go into effect on Jan. 1, 2015.

This new system will require reservations be made online with a credit or debit card. Reservations no longer will be taken through the mail as of Jan. 1.

Santa hosts a workshop

The Home Depot, 1145 W. Washington St., Sequim, is hosting a free workshop this month especially for children from 9 a.m.-noon Saturday, Nov. 29, with Santa as the special guest. Youngsters can get their photo taken with their favorite red-suited gentleman.


Senior Nutrition menu set

Sequim Senior Nutrition Site menus are served at 4:30 p.m. at Suncrest Village Retirement Apartments, 251 S. Fifth Ave. Suggested donation is $5 (60 and over), $8 guest, and a 24-hour advance reservation is needed. RSVP to 683-8491. Menus are subject to change.
