SARC sets special meeting
A quorum of the SARC Board of Commissioners will meet at 5 p.m. today, Feb. 18, in the gymnasium at the Sequim Aquatic Recreation Center, 610 N. Fifth Ave. The purpose of the meeting is to discuss future options for the center.

Shoreline plan, marijuana topics at planning meeting
The Clallam County Planning Commission hosts a public hearing regarding the Draft November 2014 Clallam County Shoreline Master Program, at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 18, at the Clallam County Courthouse, 223 E. Fourth St., Port Angeles. www.clallam.net/LandUse/SMP.html.

Measles vaccine clinics set
Clallam County Health and Human Services will have no-cost immunization clinics for measles, mumps and rubella (MMR vaccine) from 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m. on Feb. 19 and Feb. 20, at its office, 111 E. Third St., Set. 1A, Port Angeles.
Call for an appointment at 417-2274. Walk-ins will be seen but may have a longer wait time. Individuals who need the MMR vaccine are unimmunized children and adults born after 1957 who have not had the measles. Adults born before 1957 are presumed immune.
Veterans committee meets
The Veterans Affairs Advisory Committee will meet from 10 a.m.-noon Thursday, Feb. 19, in Room 160 of the Clallam County Courthouse, 223 E. Fourth St., Port Angeles.
There will be presentations by Behavioral Health, the Northwest Veterans Resource Center, Clallam County Veterans Resources, Voices for Veterans, Port Angeles VIMO clinic, Veterans Employment, Legislative Update, WDVA and transportation.
Communications privacy the topic of meeting
The next Stop The Checkpoints meeting at 6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 19, at the Port Angeles Library, 2210 S. Peabody St., will be a forum on surveillance and communications privacy. Attorney Lindsey Schromen-Wawrin will introduce the legal landscape around these issues and also share privacy communication tools.

Guild hosts bunco games
The Sequim Guild of Seattle Children’s Hospital hosts a bunco event at noon Friday, Feb. 20, at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, 525 N. Fifth Ave., Sequim. Doors open at 11:30 a.m.
The cost is $12 which includes a buffet luncheon. All proceeds go for uncompensated care at Seattle Children’s Hospital. There also will be silent auction items.
Raptor class set
The Dungeness River Audubon Center, 2151 Hendrickson Road, Sequim, is offering a class on raptors from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 21. The cost is $10 for a lecture followed by a field trip. Call 681-4076 to pre-register. All proceeds support River Center educational programs.
Women in Agriculture conference on tap
On Feb. 21, from 8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. the 2015 Women in Agriculture Conference will offer women in Clallam and Jefferson counties a unique opportunity to come together for a one-day event featuring knowledgeable speakers, inspiring stories, networking with other producers and practical advice for learning new skills at the Jamestown S’Klallam Tribal Center in Blyn.

Newcomers to meet
The Newcomers of the Olympic Peninsula will be having its next luncheon on March 3 at The Cedars at Dungeness Legends Room, 1965 Woodcock Road, Sequim.
Socializing begins at 11:30 a.m. followed by a buffet lunch. Speakers will be Ryan and Sarah McCarthey from the Dungeness Valley Creamery, a family owned and run operation for two generations. RSVPs are required and must be made by noon Feb. 27 to 360-504-2522.
Kiwanis selling raffle tickets
The Port Angeles Kiwanis Club’s annual raffle is under way. First prize is a two-night stay at Lake Quinault Lodge. Second prize is a Kindle Fire. And third prize is a cord of wood, cut and delivered.
Tickets are $10 and can be purchased at Wenner-Davis & Associates, 102 E. First St., Port Angeles, between now and May 3.
Proceeds help support the Port Angeles Kiwanis and the PAHS Key Club in their efforts to provide services to the youth of Clallam County.
The drawing will be held May 3 at the Annual Kiwanis Garage Sale.
Guild hosts medical speaker
The Sequim Dungeness Hospital Guild will hold its Speaker Series and meeting at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 24, in the community hall of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, 525 N. Fifth Ave. in Sequim. The public always is invited to the speaker portion of the meeting and it’s first on the program.
This month’s speaker is Alicia Jean Demetropolis, a certified medical exercise specialist and certified caregiver. Demetropolis works with seniors recovering from surgery, special needs clients and injured athletes.
She also serves end-of-life clients. Coffee and light refreshments will be served and the guild’s business meeting will follow her talk. Call 683-7044 for more information.
Trinity United puts on monthly dinner
A free community dinner will be served at 5 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 26, at Trinity United Methodist Church, 100 S. Blake Ave. The meal includes lemon honey baked chicken, rice, vegetables, fruit salad, desserts and beverages.

Sanctuary seeks advisory council applicants
NOAA’s Olympic Coast National Marine Sanctuary is accepting applications for the tourism/economic development alternate seat on its advisory board. Applicants will be considered based on their expertise and experience in relation to the seat for which they are applying, community and professional affiliations, and views regarding the protection and management of marine resources.
