Get tickets for murder mystery dinner
The Shipley Center, 921 E. Hammond St., Sequim, presents a Murder Mystery Dinner — “Cooking Class, Like Buttah” or “The Cholesterol Murders” from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, April 15, at the center. Tickets are $25 for members, $30 for guests, and are on sale at the center.
A few words about bees
The Olympic Peninsula Audubon Society will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 15, at the Dungeness River Audubon Center at Railroad Bridge Park, 2151 W. Hendrickson Road in Sequim.
The program will be presented by Jerry Freilich, PhD, research coordinator, Olympic National Park.
Freilich has been with the National Park Service since 1978, working at six national parks all across the country. He earned a PhD in entomology and is particularly interested in the birds and bees. The program is free and open to the public.
Checkpoints meeting
The next Stop The Checkpoints meeting will be at 6 p.m. Monday, April 13, with an update on recent actions for immigrant rights.

Sequim Scouts offering lawn aeration
As a fundraiser, Sequim Boy Scout Troop 1498 offers lawn aeration services Saturday-Sunday, April 11-12. Cost is $50 for up to one-quarter acre. Owners need not be home for the service but need to have lawns mowed, underground sprinkler heads marked and dog waste picked up.

The Sequim Valley Lions Club will have its traditional White Cane fundraiser April 10-11 at QFC, 7 Cedars Casino and the Longhouse in Blyn.
Chicks 101 seminar scheduled at Co-op
The Co-op Farm and Garden, 216 E. Washington St., Sequim, offers a free “Chicks 101” seminar at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 11. Rick Boyer from Purina Feed and Angelle Hickman from Veterinary Services Inc. will discuss the basics of raising backyard chickens. Passport acceptance agent unavailable
The City of Sequim passport acceptance agent will be unavailable to accept passports applications from April 27-May 1 and May 11-18. During that time, passport applications will be accepted at the Clallam County Auditor’s Office in Port Angeles. Diabetes talk set
On Tuesday, April 14, at 3 p.m. the Sequim Library, 630 N. Sequim Ave., will continue its Taking Care of You health and wellness series with a free presentation about diabetes prevention and pre-diabetes, plus ways to prevent or delay the onset of the disease.
HRC hours trimmed
As of April 1, hours have been trimmed back at Serenity House’s Housing Resource Center, 535 E. First St., Port Angeles. The HRC be open 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. and 1:30-4:30 p.m. on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday and 12:30-4:30 p.m. on Tuesdays.
Hours are unchanged at the Sequim HRC, which is open 9: a.m.-4:30 p.m., weekdays except Tuesday, at 583 W. Washington St. The HRCs provide coordinated intake, assessment and placement, to match very low-income clients to available housing services; and provide a free listing service for landlords with affordable rentals.

Daniel Jolly of Clear Images will speak on photo restorations and preservation of photos, paintings, documents or other items at the Clallam County Genealogical Society general meeting from 10 a.m.-noon Saturday, April 11, at the Trinity Methodist Church, 100 Blake Ave., Sequim.
School retirees meet
The Clallam County School Retirees Association will meet at noon for lunch and a program Tuesday, April 14, at the Dungeness River Audubon Center, 2151 W. Hendrickson Road. Habitat in spotlight
Cyndi Hueth, director of Clallam County Habitat for Humanity, will present a free program on the organization from 12:35-1:35 p.m. Thursday, April 9, in the Little Theater at Peninsula College.

OPEN plans equine vet clinic on April 18
The Olympic Peninsula Equine Network, a nonprofit horse rescue group in
Sequim, will team up with Dr. Sean Tuley beginning at 9 a.m. Saturday, April 18, at 554 Roupe Road, Sequim, for an equine vet clinic. Services available include teeth floating, castration, vaccinations and worming. There is a 10 float limit, so reservations are required by calling 360-207-1688. Fees apply for vet services. A $25 farm call charge benefits OPEN.
Surfrider chapter offers scholarship
The Olympic Peninsula Chapter of the Surfrider Foundation has offered Clallam and Jefferson County area high school seniors the opportunity to apply for a $500 dollar scholarship.
The scholarship was created to promote more interest in marine and beach-focused stewardship as well as reward an area student who already has been active or taken interest in working for a healthier environment.
Application deadline is April 25 and requires students to write a 500- to 700-word essay answering one of two questions of their choice.

‘Raise the Roof’ event planned for April 18
Clallam County Habitat for Humanity will have its “Raise the Roof” fundraiser from 5:30-8:30 p.m. Saturday, April 18, at the Sunland Golf & Country Club, 109 Hilltop Drive, Sequim.
