Royalty at WAG event

The 2015 Sequim Irrigation Festival royalty, Queen Megan O’Mera and Princesses Morgan King, Emily Larson and Amanda Sanders, will be at Petco, 1205 W. Washington St., Sequim, to support Welfare for Animals from 3-4:15 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 30.

Meet the royalty and WAG pets up for adoption. Bring your camera for photos. Donations to support WAG are welcome.


Get free health screenings

Free screenings are available for mammograms, colonoscopies and Pap tests through the Breast, Cervical & Colon Health Program in Clallam County. You may qualify if you are ages 40-64 or 35-40 with breast symptoms, are uninsured or underinsured or not qualified for Apple Health, and fall within income guidelines.

Genealogy class is Saturday

Learn the basics of how to find your ancestors in the next “I know nothing about genealogy” class provided by the Clallam County Genealogical Society from 1:30-3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 30, at the CCGS Research Center’s monthly open house. The open house is from noon-4 p.m. and everyone is invited to look over the Research Center, do some Saturday research, or have a cup of coffee and munchies. The Research Center is at 402 E. Lauridsen Blvd. in Port Angeles.

Word processor is topic

The Strait Mac Users Group will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 2, at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, 525 N. Fifth Ave., Sequim. Glenn Gilliam, owner of MacTraders, will demonstrate Apple’s word processing program called Pages.

He will outline the basics of the program along with some of the more advanced features. He will demonstrate both the Mac OS and iOs versions of Pages and how they integrate with Photos and iCloud.

Soup’s on at St. Luke’s

Starting today, Jan. 27, members of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church offer prepare a free homemade lunch every Wednesday from noon-1 p.m. Everyone in the community is invited for a bowl of soup and a crispy green salad.

This is an opportunity to enjoy a relaxing meal and to meet new people. St. Luke’s is at 525 N. Fifth Ave. in Sequim; parking available in the front and rear.


Volunteer planting is set    at Snow Creek

Jefferson Land Trust and the North Olympic Salmon Coalition are partnering for a volunteer planting event at Snow Creek from 10 a.m.-noon Thursday, Jan. 28. Learn how to plant native trees to improve riparian habitat. RSVP to Emily at outreach@nosc.org to get directions and more information.

Bring warm weatherproof work clothes, water and a lunch; tools, gloves and light refreshments will be provided.


Senior Nutrition menu set

Sequim Senior Nutrition Site menus are served at 4:30 p.m. at the Shipley Center, 921 E. Hammond St. on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

Suggested donation is $5 (60 and over), $8 guest and a 24-hour advance reservation is needed.
