Controlled burn smoke column may be visible

The Washington state Department of Natural Resources approved an industrial forestry landowner’s 78-acre broadcast burn. Conditions are right for the smoke to rise and dissipate, so the approval was given today, (Thursday, June 28) and is in progress.

This burn is located in about three miles south east of Clallam Bay. Officials say there is a possibility that a smoke column would be visible from Port Angeles, Clallam Bay, Port Townsend, Sequim and Vancouver Island.
