The Clallam County Fair princesses visited Sequim and helped distribute food at the food bank on March 20.

Marissa Lee Ann Rose Wilson and Stephanie Ann Lindquist unloaded milk and eggs and passed them out to customers. That afternoon they collected hygiene products at Walmart. One of the two will be chosen as fair queen at 7 p.m. Aug. 19, the first day of the fair.

The theme of this year’s fair is “A Cluck, A Moo and Carnival Too!” The fair runs through Aug. 22.

The two candidates are best friends and say that will continue no matter which is chosen queen. Their royal duties include seven parades during the spring and summer, the first being the Sequim Irrigation Festival parade. They also are involved in community service such as helping at the food bank.

At the fair, they will help judge animal costumes, hand out ribbons and trophies, appear at all the arena shows, walk through all the buildings and check with the superintendents of the buildings to see if they can be of help.

They are ambassadors for the fair and will walk through the grounds talking to people and helping as needed. Both candidates will be showing horses at the fair.

The queen will receive a $500 scholarship, the princess a $400 scholarship.
