The annual countywide burn ban took effect Thursday, July 1, and remains in effect until Oct. 1, unless conditions at that time require that it be extended. This burn ban applies to outdoor burning only. Recreational fires still are allowed unless further banned by extreme conditions. Burn barrels are illegal in Washington.
No burning is allowed in the city of Port Angeles or any other designated urban growth area.
Clallam County Chiefs Association strongly supports the burn ban.
Every summer, emergency response agencies respond to a significant number of outdoor burn incidents and complaints.
A majority of these responses are due to confusion with the current status of burning regulations.
