County to get insurance settlement

Clallam County commissioners approved an insurance settlement last week to cover hundreds of thousands of dollars in public funds stolen from the Treasurer’s Office between February 2004 and May 2009.

Former employee Catherine Betts was charged with first-degree theft. A state Auditor’s Office investigation determined $617,467 was stolen. A trial has been set for Jan. 10 in Clallam County Superior Court.

City of Port Angeles $34,304.25

City of Sequim $13,270.68

City of Forks $4,640.11
