Sequim man sentenced in heroin case

Anthony E. Campbell, 31, of Sequim, was sentenced on Feb. 9 to serve 60 months plus one day confinement in state prison, followed by 12 months community custody, after pleading guilty to delivery of a controlled substance (heroin) and bail jumping.

According to the Clallam County Sheriff’s Office, Campbell delivered heroin to detectives of the sheriff’s office’s Criminal Investigations Bureau and the Olympic Peninsula Narcotics Enforcement Team on three separate occasions during 2014.

All three deliveries occurred in the City of Port Angeles.

Campbell’s prior convictions include felony harassment, possession of a controlled substance, second-degree arson and second-degree theft.

Court of Appeals affirms conviction

The Court of Appeals on Feb. 8 affirmed a Clallam County drug possession conviction after law enforcement officials found a Jefferson County man to be in possession of methamphetamine.

According to the Court of Appeals, on May 14, 2014, an attendant at the 7 Cedars Casino in Blyn found a suspicious baggie on the floor in front of a slot machine. A review of video surveillance revealed that the baggie fell out of a pocket of a man, later identified as Bruce Eli Bratton.

Bratton, 65, was later interviewed by law enforcement and admitted possession of the baggie, which contained methamphetamine, stating that the drug was for his personal use only, according to the Court of Appeals decision.

Bratton was charged with possession of a controlled substance and found guilty by a Clallam County jury in October 2014.

Bratton served his sentence in the Clallam County Jail, according to Chief Criminal Deputy Prosecutor Michele Devlin.
