The Clallam County Democratic Party elected its delegates to the Washington State Democratic Convention.

Elected Saturday, April 10, were Hank and Raedell Warren, Allan Harrison, Brandel Sundt, Ellen Fetchiet, Lorraine Martin, Norma Turner, Bill Holman and David Fox of Port Angeles; Pat Johansen, Ida Fintel, Bridget Moore and Larry Freedman of Sequim; and Joe McGimpsey of Neah Bay. Elected alternates: Linda Barnfather and Dorothy Nicassio, of Sequim, and Rod Fleck of Forks.

Four automatic delegates to the June 25-26 state convention in Vancouver are John Marrs of Lake Sutherland, chairman of the party’s central committee; Julie Johnson of Neah Bay, state committeewoman; Earl Archer of Sequim, state committeeman; and Bill Kildall of Port Angeles, 24th Legislative District state committeeman.

The party adopted several resolutions at its convention in Port Angeles.

It urged the city of Port Angeles, and its Harbor-Works partner the Port of Port Angeles, to stop funding the Harbor-Works Public Development Authority or hold a public vote on if citizens support the authority and its effort to acquire the former Rayonier Mill site at Ennis Creek in Port Angeles.

It also urged Rep. Norman Dicks, D-Belfair, to assist in acquiring funds to restore Ennis Creek on the Rayonier site for salmon habitat, jobs and tribal culture.

The party’s resolutions on national and statewide matters will be forwarded to the State Democratic Party for consideration at the state convention or be sent to the appropriate authorities.

The Democratic convention also adopted an updated party platform for 2010.
