The Washington State Association of Head Start and ECEAP presented the 2009 WSA Director Excellence Award to Janet Anderson, director of OlyCAP’s Head Start program, at their winter association meeting in Olympia on Feb. 17. The award recognizes Anderson for her leadership and support of her staff, commitment to excellence, and her advocacy and empowerment of families and children. Nominating letters recognized Anderson for her tireless efforts to expand and improve services to the area’s children and families and for support of the Coalition on Early Learning.

Tim Hockett, OlyCAP’s executive director, added his congratulations saying, "I couldn’t be more proud of Janet and her incredible team of early learning professionals." He noted that Anderson has spent many hours working at the state level with WSA to support the education of young children and has been a constant advocate for training that increases her staffs’ skills and abilities.
