Asphalt paving for the North Sequim Avenue Sidewalk and Bike Lanes project started Monday, May 6, along North Sequim Avenue and the nearby roundabout. It was set to finish this week depending on weather.
Paving was done by Interwest Construction and Agate Asphalt with the project expected to finish by June.
According to City of Sequim staff, the project provides paved northbound and southbound lanes for vehicles and bike lanes for cyclists, a two-way left hand turn lane down North Sequim Avenue, sidewalks on the west side of the street, and Americans with Disabilities Act-compliant curb ramps.
It’s funded by a Safe Routes to School Transportation Improvement Board grant, City Real Estate Excise Tax, and City Transportation Benefit District funds.
