The Sequim Police Department, Port Angeles Police Department and Clallam County Sheriff’s Department are participating in the National Drug Take Back Day from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. on Saturday, April 26.
Citizens will be able to take expired, unused, and unwanted prescription drugs and other medications to one of two locations. The Sequim Police Department is hosting the event at their location in Suite 16 at 609 W. Washington St. while in Port Angeles the Drug Take Back site is in the main parking lot of the Clallam County Courthouse, 223 E. Fourth St.
Individuals may bring prescription drugs and over the counter medications to either location. However, intravenous solutions, injectibles, syringes, or medical wastes are not accepted because of potential hazards posed by blood-borne pathogens.
The events are free and completely anonymous. No questions will be asked and no identification is required.
During the rest of the year, individuals may drop off their unwanted drugs and over the counter medications at the Sequim Police Department and the Clallam County Sheriff’s Office in the Courthouse.
Unused, expired and unneeded medicines can be a serious danger to those living in any residence, especially for young children and pets, law enforement officials say.
