Clallam County Department of Health & Human Services, Environmental Health, obtained grant funding in 2012 for a feasibility study to develop wastewater management options to address problematic site conditions and potentially failing onsite septic systems in unincorporated Dungeness and nearby Three Crabs Road/Seashore Lane neighborhoods.

Through a series of four community meetings and public review of a draft feasibility study, this project identified four alternatives for managing wastewater in the Dungeness-Three Crabs area:

• Individual onsite septic systems

• Clustered large onsite sewage systems

• Centralized collection, treatment and disposal (local sewer system)

• Centralized collection and conveyance to an existing wastewater treatment facility (City of Sequim or Sunland)

At the 2 p.m. Board of Health meeting on Tuesday, May 21, in Room 160 of the county courthouse, Parametrix and Clallam County Environmental Health will present strategies for implementing the preferred alternative for discussion and will obtain a recommendation from the Board of Health to the Board of Commissioners.
