The Sequim Education Foundation is partnering with Soroptimist International of Sequim, Rotary Club of Sequim and Sunrise Rotary to again offer Exploring Engineering Day.

More than 225 students and their families participated in last year’s events.

This year’s Exploring Engineering Day will be from 9:30 a.m.-noon, Saturday, June 6, at Greywolf Elementary School, 171 Carlsborg Road.

Elementary students in grades K-5 from both elementary schools along with their parents are invited to participate in three engineering activities, each lasting 30 minutes. Fifteen teachers from both elementary schools and Sequim Middle School will teach the activities.

The activities are hands-on challenges that focus on teaching the engineering design process. They use simple materials that allow for multiple solutions; students will be allowed to take home the materials.

The event features tables in the hallways with demonstrations as well as showcasing local students with their Washington State Science Fair experiments.

As with last year’s event, the engineering projects have been selected from the PBS program “Design Squad Nation.”
