Support for exploited women
Calvary Chapel of Sequim is hosting a special guest who will share her testimony and discuss her ministry, Unfettered Girl, which provides employment to women rescued from sexual exploitation in Nepali, at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 21.
The guest will be hosting “The Purse Party” which will offer for sale items crafted by a former victim of human trafficking and sexual exploitation, or women most at risk to trafficking.
Methodists welcome new minister
The First United Methodist Church, 110 E. Seventh St., Port Angeles, announces that the Rev. Thomas G. Steffen is its new pastor.
All members of the community are invited to a special “Fifth Sunday” worship service and potluck gathering to celebrate the first six weeks of his Port Angeles ministry on Sunday, Aug. 31. Worship will begin at 10 a.m. in the church sanctuary and will be followed by a potluck lunch.
Steffen began his service in Port Angeles on July 1 and is joined by his wife of 36 years, Jules Steffen, who is a licensed mental health counselor.He most recently served as pastor of St. Peter’s United Methodist Church in Bellevue.
Taize services continue
All are welcome to the ecumenical Taize service at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, 525 N. Fifth Ave., Sequim, starting at 7 p.m. Monday, Aug. 25.
In a meditative candlelit atmosphere which includes singing simple repetitive songs, one may simply sit peacefully during the hour long service or join in the chorus while experiencing the calming effect of being in God’s presence.
Taize will continue to be held the fourth Monday of each month.
