Festival logo contest opens

Submissions are now being accepted for the 2011 Sequim Irrigation Festival logo design. The theme for the 2011 festival is "One Hundred and Sweet Sixteen."

Water turned Sequim into one sweet place to live and play. Residents live among majestic mountains, fertile farmland, abundant wildlife and wonderful people.

All of these are connected in some way with the flowing of the water in the rivers, streams and irrigation ditches, and delivers the sweet fresh air and wonderfully sweet way of life.

Visualize riding a carousel where one can take in all the sweetness that surrounds. Notice the vibrant colors of the blue sky, and the golden sun shining on the greens of the farms, meadows and forest.

A carousel concept and this vision will be used to convey the 2011 theme. This is a theme that will be included in all events, marketing media and products.

The logo design contest entries will be accepted from artists of any age in either Clallam or Jefferson County and the selected logo design will be used for the collectible festival lapel pins, posters, programs, advertising, festival events, T-shirts and more.

Full rules, prizes and additional concept information are available at www.IrrigationFestival.com, Making of the Festival: Design Contest.

Entries must be postmarked by August 27, 2010. Submit to Irrigation Festival Logo Contest, P.O. Box 3201, Sequim, WA 98382. Call 477-3750 for questions.

Note that there will be a contest among elementary students (1st through 5th grade) to design the Festival Button beginning in October.
