Fire district remembers, honors 9/11 victims

As tradition on 9/11, Clallam County Fire District 3 displayed a large American flag from a fire truck in front of Fifth Avenue’s Station 34 to remember victims of the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks in New York, New York; Shanksville, Pa., and Washington, D.C.

A decal on the truck states “Honoring America’s Bravest, 9-11-01, We will not forget you.”

According to various reports, 343 firefighters died on 9/11, and as many as 300 more died in ensuing years from various factors from the tragedy.

The City of Sequim hosts a 9/11 memorial at its flagpole with an 843-pound piece of sheet metal from the fallen World Trade Center in New York City which was destroyed in the attacks.
