Flooding possible in Clallam County

Heavy rain along the west slopes of the Olympic Peninsula today could cause some rivers and small stream to flood today, according to the Seattle bureau of the National Weather Service.

Up to 3 inches of rain could fall in some spots along the west slopes of the Olympic Mountains and the north Washington coast today and tonight.

Rivers are already running high and soils are saturated due to recent rainy weather, the weather service said.

The warning includes Grays Harbor and Jefferson County.

The flood warning is from 9 a.m. this morning through late tonight (Jan. 20).

A Flood watch means conditions are favorable for flooding, but flooding is not imminent or occurring.

Peninsula residents are urged to monitor the latest forecasts from the national weather service and be ready to act quickly if flooding is observed or a warning is issued.
