Community volunteers will be out this weekend seeking support for local youths outside Sequim’s grocers for the fifth annual Price Ford Peanut Butter Drive.
From 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Friday-Sunday, June 8-10, donations will be accepted outside Grocery Outlet, 1045 W. Washington St., QFC, 990 E. Washington St., Safeway, 680F W. Washington St., and Walmart, 1284 W. Washington St.
Last year’s event brought in 3,105 jars and $1,500 in donations, which food bank officials say equated to a record for the event at about 4,000 jars of peanut butter.
Stephen Rosales, food bank president, said the donations carried them through the summer as the facility provides about 250 jars of peanut butter a week. He hopes the community can break its goal from last year.
Any type of peanut butter is accepted, Rosales said, and stores will have displays near entrances, too.
Volunteers for this year’s event include Windermere Realty on Friday across town, Sequim Girl Scouts at Safeway on Saturday, the Sequim Sunrise Rotary at QFC on Saturday and Sunday, and the Sequim Noon Rotary at Grocery Outlet on Saturday and Sunday. Food bank volunteers will serve at other locations.
For more information on donations/support, call the Sequim Food Bank, 144 W. Alder St., Sequim, at 683-1205 or 461-6038.
