WSU Clallam County extension hosts an end-of-year water conservation forum from 6-7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 10 in the Sequim Civic Center, 152 W. Cedar St.
It will feature a panel of local water experts sharing how 2024’s drought impacted local life, as well as sharing water-saving strategies for 2025.
Topics addressed will include local hydrology of the Dungeness, migrating fish passage efforts, irrigating during a drought, and more. The event will end with a question and answer session for the public, and include water conservation tips and strategies.
Speakers include Chandra Johnson, GIS specialist for Jamestown S’Klallam Tribe; Ann Soule, retired hydrologist and water planning professional; Clea Rome, director of WSU Clallam Extension, and Meggan Uecker, resource analyst for the City of Sequim Public Works.
“As the rains return, it’s a perfect time of year to reflect on how drought conditions impact our community,” said Sammi Grieger, water conservation coordinator at WSU Extension.
“Educating ourselves about the realities of drought can help us be more prepared for the effects it may bring next summer.
“By understanding why droughts occur here, we can continue to appreciate and prioritize water conservation in our community.”
This event is free and open to the public. For more information, visit https://extension.wsu.edu/clallam/water-conservation, or email Grieger at samantha.grieger@wsu.edu.
