The Olympic Medical Center Foundation presents the sixth annual Red, Set, Go! heart luncheon from 11:30 a.m.-2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 1, at the Sunland Golf & Country Club, 109 Hilltop Lane in Sequim.
Sarah Speck, M.D., of the Swedish Heart & Vascular Institute, will speak on heart disease prevention through a healthy lifestyle. Event emcee will be Larri Ann Mishko, D.O., of the Jamestown Family Health Clinic.
“Many women are surprised to learn that heart disease is the No. 1 killer of women,” said event chairman Sara Maloney. “The purpose of our event is to inspire women to become more educated to improve their heart health.”
Proceeds from the luncheon also benefit local patients with heart disease issues.
In its first five years the event has raised $190,000 to benefit patients being treated through Olympic Medical Center’s cardiac services department.
Proceeds from the events also allowed the foundation to partner with local law enforcement agencies to launch a community-wide Automated External Defibrillator program.
Individual tickets are $50. To purchase tickets, call the OMC Foundation at 417-7144.
