In celebration of Read Across America — and Dr. Seuss’ impending birthday — Sequim High School teachers walked hundreds of first-period students across the greens to Helen Haller Elementary on March 1.
High school students paired up with elementary students or read to small groups of their younger counterparts in Haller classrooms. Some high school students had dressed up as favorite Dr. Seuss characters and made a surprise appearance in each classroom.
“The high school students love this day,” Sequim High School teacher Carol Wagner said. “They are a little nervous to begin with and then they settle in.”
