A Carlsborg man, Deeon Emilio Gonzales, 20, pleaded not guilty on Oct. 3 in Clallam County Superior Court to aggravated first-degree assault with a deadly weapon after allegedly stabbing his ex-girlfriend multiple times.

His trial is set for 9 a.m. Nov. 17 in Clallam County Superior Court.

Gonzales’ defense attorney John Black said that Gonzales’ mental health will be evaluated, according to court documents.

The charges follow a Clallam County Sheriff’s Office report that Gonzales allegedly pre-meditated to kill Britni Gallauher, 18, also of Carlsborg, with a knife Sept. 20.

Gallauher told Clallam County Sheriff Deputy Brian Knutson at about 4:20 p.m. Sept. 20 she walked a block from her home on Streit Road to Gonzales’ home on Carlsborg Road to pick up their 1 1/2-year-old daughter after an argument via text messages.

Court documents state Gonzales stepped outside with their daughter in his arm while holding something behind his back and he brought the girl to Gallauher before allegedly stabbing her.

Sheriff’s deputies report Gallauher fell on her back while holding the girl and Gonzales allegedly continued to stab her. She was allegedly stabbed five times — three times in the back, near the left shoulder and the stomach.

Witnesses told Knutson they saw Gonzales take his daughter, return her to his house and go toward the Olympic Discovery Trail.

Gallauher was transported to Olympic Memorial Hospital and treated for a punctured lung and later released. Her daughter was uninjured, law enforcement said.

After a search by law enforcement into the evening, Gonzales turned himself in to the sheriff’s office around 11:45 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 21.

Judge Erik Rohrer issued a no-contact order on Sept. 24 for Gonzales with Gallauher and their daughter.

If convicted, Gonzales faces up to life in prison without parole.

Court documents state Gonzales has four felony convictions as a minor, including assault in the third degree after he attacked his brother with a knife.

Gonzales remains in Clallam Coun
