A Grim Reaper event took place at Sequim High School on May 22-23. Sponsored by the Clallam County Sheriff’s Department, the event is designed to educate young drivers about the dangers of driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Student organizers were Mikayla Simonson and Amanda Bennett.
On Wednesday, May 22, beginning with first period at 8:15 a.m., students were pulled out of class each period throughout the day by the "Grim Reaper." These students wore make-up and black robes for the rest of the school day and were not allowed to speak. Several first responder representatives from the community were on hand to assist.
A wrecked car was placed in front of the high school building on Sequim Avenue.
On Thursday, May 23, the Grim Reaper assembly was staged in the auditorium for all SHS juniors and seniors to attend.
