Robi Andison’s fifth grade class continued her tradition of putting on an assembly remembering the civil rights movement and the significance of Martin Luther King Jr.’s life. Students led two assemblies on Friday, Jan. 14, for all of Helen Haller Elementary.
They read portions of King’s “I have a dream” speech, shared significant stories of citizens advocating for civil rights and the oppression they received, and reenacted Rosa Park’s famous bus protest. Andison encouraged audience members to shake hands because at some point they’ll be shaking hands with someone who has shook the hand of someone who’s shook the hand of Martin Luther King Jr. Sequim Gazette video by Matthew Nash
