Help Sequim schools plan for future

The Sequim School District hosts a strategic plan workshop from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, March 5, in the commons at Sequim Community School, 220 W. Alder St., Sequim.

Community members are invited to join the workshop presentation and discussion as the district reviews the status of the current plan and considers important goals and strategies for the ensuing plan.

Participants will be directed to the commons from the school’s main entrance. Lunch is provided at no charge.

“The strategic plan is the written record of the road map the district will follow to create the future desired,” Sequim schools superintendent Bill Bentley said. “It is important that the goals selected reflect the thoughtful consideration of our shareholders.”

The initial strategic plan developed was drafted in 2005 following input received from 63 community members. Many of those original goals have been addressed, school officials said.

Each year, the Sequim School District’s board of directors, with input from staff and others, review the plan to evaluate progress and to establish an annual work plan. The plan continues to evolve as a result of changes necessary to respond to emerging issues, school officials said.

Those who choose to attend the March 5 workshop may expect to review the progress the district has made since the inception of the plan, to learn about current issues and to participate in a discussion of the goals to be established for the future. Those interested in attending the workshop may contact school district community liaison Patsene Dashiell in the district office at 582-3264 to RSVP.
