The League of Women Voters of Clallam County will provide an informational forum on Metropolitan Park Districts from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, July 7, at the Sequim Transit Center, 190 W. Cedar St.

The following three speakers will present information about MPDs regarding their formation, how they function, and the tax implications: Joe Irvin, assistant to the Sequim city manager; Steve Burke, executive director of William Shore Pool in Port Angeles; and Pam Rushton, Clallam County assessor. After the presentation, there will be an opportunity to ask questions.

This forum is not a debate about the MPD initiative. The League will sponsor such a debate on the ballot initiative to form an MPD in Sequim at the Shipley Center Center, 921 E. Hammond St., on June 28. The MPDs are different from county and municipal government and this forum will provide information for the community to learn about their formation and function and answer questions.
