Apparently Mother Nature didn’t get the message that it was the first weekend of the 115th Sequim Irrigation Festival, with gusty winds and cool temperatures curtailing the crowds at outdoor activities. However, attendance at the Family Picnic events in Carrie Blake Park was steady, drawing bundled-up families to food and fun with hayrides and games. Activities included an obstacle course led by semi-professional football team Olympic Peninsula Eagles, Bicycle Poker Run, Sequim Dog Park Pals’ Woof and Walk, vehicles from Clallam County Fire District 3 and Clallam County Sheriff and more.

Indoors at the Guy Cole Center, Kids Day activities were packed with several local groups catering to the younger crowd. Clowns, model planes and cars, face painting, balloons and crafts were only a few of the characters and activities at the event. The arts and crafts show, in its first year on Bell Street, was comfortably crowded with lots of interest from attendees, and there were more booths this year on Washington Street for the downtown merchants market.
