Irrigation Festival button designer takes a sleek ride to fun

Eleven-year-old Madison White carried on the tradition April 27 as Sequim Irrigation Festival’s button design winner.

The Greywolf Elementary fifth-grader got to ride in style in a limo provided by 7 Cedars Casino with her friends to eat lunch at the Black Bear Diner courtesy of Liz Parks, owner/broker of RE/MAX Prime.

Her design of an airplane soaring over Sequim was chosen over 413 other drawings from first- fifth-graders at her school and Helen Haller Elementary, said Shawnna Rigg, festival products chairman.

White comes from a family of Sequim pioneers and along with winning the button contest, she won Greywolf’s annual yearbook cover contest.

Elementary students sold the buttons with White’s design as a fundraiser for the festival through Monday, May 1, for a chance at prizes.

The Sequim Irrigation Festival celebrates its 122nd year over two weekends on May 5-14. For more information, visit www. irrigationfestival.com.
